Premieres
The world premiere of Meat the Truth was held in the Tuschinski cinema in Amsterdam on 10th December 2007. In the spring of 2008, the Dutch version of film will be screened at movie theatres and arthouse cinemas throughout the Netherlands. It will later be released in DVD format.
The Dutch premiere of Meat the Truth was a glittering event, which was attended by many celebrities, scientists and representatives of animal and environmental protection organisations. In playful reference to the proposition that a vegetarian in a Hummer is ‘better’ for the environment than a meat-eater in a Toyota Prius, Marianne Thieme and her guests arrived in style in a Hummer Stretch limousine. On this page you will find photos of this impressive event.
As a result of this world premiere, there has been great interest in and requests for an international version of this documentary. The Nicolaas G. Pierson Foundation has answered these calls and has produced an English language version of the film.
The international version of Meat the Truth received its world premiere in at the Odeon West End cinema in London’s famous Leicester Square on 19th May 2008. Instead of a Hummer, this time the VIP guests arrived at this red carpet event in rickshaws to highlight the fact that vegetarians on bikes are the most environmentally friendly people of all.
The US premiere was held at the Egyptian Theatre, Hollywood, LA during the Artivist Film Festival on 3rd October 2008. Prominent guests included Wayne Pacelle, president of HSUS (the world’s largest animal protection organization with 10 million members), actrice Megan Blake and the well-known Hollywood attorney Kim Swartz.
